Unpar Dorong Mahasiswa Jadi Pengusaha

Bandung – to encourage the birth of young entrepreneurs, Parahyangan Catholic University has once again displayed numerous products of innovation, product of its students in the commercial area.

A total number of 40 students’ works (predominantly fashion and accessories products) was exhibited in Menefesto 2016 held at the Trans Studio Mall (TSM) Bandung from Friday 911/11) to Sunday (13/11).

In addition to testing the market response to the result of Unpar students’ innovation work result, the exhibition was also aimed at raising students’ confidence in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Christian Wibisono, a lecturer in theManagement study program of Unpar, said that Menefesto 2016 is a program designed by the Management study program to facilitate students to be able to apply theories of entrepreneurship and management with the purpose of producing market-acceptable products/services.

“the 40 student products on display had undergone a long mentoring process starting from classroom theories to mentoring. We are confident the ideas displayed are quite innovative  and the quality of the products is good, hence their competitiveness on the market,”  He added.

He revealed that the committee has allowed the students to come up with the entrepreneurship ideas freely, and the majority develops fashion, accessories and culinary products. In the future, students will be encouraged to explore other fields as well.

Up to this point, Unpar has conducted no fewer than eight similar exhibitions held mostly on campus. But over the past two years Unpar has been exploring a new frontier by staging the exhibition in commercial areas.

“This year, we will try to further enlarge the scale, by holding a bigger exhibition in a commercial area, with the purpose of improving students’ confidence in innovating and entrepreneurship.”

He added that through these exhibitions Unpar has graduated students who have finally made up their mind to become  serious entrepreneurs.

“We hope people will get to know this exhibition of student products better and will be able to differentiate it from the existing entrepreneurship program. Hopefully, this event will become bigger in the future,” stated Christian.

Some of the products displayed are the multi-function wallet Kougy, Hue florist, Rhinoskin and S.T.A.D.S. Kougy targets the female segment by offering multi-function wallets that can act as lipstick holder with a mirror, card holder, and cell phone storage, equipped with a chain to turn it into a shoulder bag.
