Parahyangan Catholic University Student Choir (Unpar PSM) managed to come second in the International Baltic Sea Choir Competition, on September 22-23 in Latvia. In the event, the conductor Ivan Yohan received the title of Best Conductor.
The concert series began with holding the Non-Competitive Opening Concert of the Competition held on September 21 at Dubitah Church. At the opening concert, PSM Unpar performed Ivan Yohan’s Ave Maria hymn. Previously, the Unpar PSM team gave a concert in Vilnius, Lithuania which was held on September 19th.
In the first day of the competition, the type of competition held was the Competition-Compulsory Program. In this stage competition, Unpar PSM performed four songs, namely The Drop by Andris Dzenitis, Bleibe, Abend will es warden by Albert Becker, Lingsir Wengi by Javanese Moslem Chant, and O Sapientia by Tadeja Vulc.
Furthermore, Unpar PSM participated in the Competition-Free Program. In this competition, PSM Unpar performed two songs, namely Iupitter by Michael Ostrzyga and Exultate Deo by Budi Susanto Yohanes.
Unpar PSM succeeded in reaching the Grand Prix Final-Competition Closing Concert which was held on September 23, 2018. In this final round, PSM Unpar performed three songs, namely Iupitter by Michael Ostrzyga, Gloria Patri by Budi Susanto, and Cikala Le Pong Pong by Ken Steven.
The results stated that Unpar PSM managed to get second place in the International Baltic Sea Choir Competition and Ivan Yohan won the Best Conductor title.
Congratulations to all the choristers and also conductor Ivan Yohan. Unpar PSM managed to bring the name of the Indonesian people to the international scene.
