The 2nd International Statistics Competition for Engineering Students (ISCE) was successfully held by the Industrial Engineering Study Program of Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar) from November 8 to 10 2016. ISCE was formally opened by Mangadar Situmorang, Ph.D., as the Rector, in the auditorium of the Institute of Postgraduate Program/Graduate School at Unpar. This prestigious competition was followed by 26 teams from numerous national and international universities. In this instance, Unpar also participated by sending two teams.
ISCE comprised of three rounds, the preliminary, semi-final and final. The preliminary round was divided into 3 sessions, namely, an essay session, multiple choice sessions, and betting. The first two sessions, (essay and multiple choice) were held on November 8, 2016. On the second day ISCE began with the betting session, where teams had to come up with a strategy to collect as many points as possible. Both Unpar teams made the top 20 and became the leading teams in the semi-final.
In the semi-final , both Unpar teams managed to earn the highest points from every sessions and earned the right to go to the finals followed by 3 other teams, namely: The Odyssey (Petra Christian University), UP Diliman (University of Philippines Diliman), and UBAYA 1 (Surabaya University).
In the final, teams were given a case and had to come up with a solution for it in 180 minutes. Next, the competition was followed by the presentation session. After all teams concluded their presentation of the case-solving, three teams were declared winners.
In this competition, Unpar won the 2nd and 3rd prize by team Uni Potato (total points: 1343) and team Uni Corn (total points: 1317.5). the first prize with a total points of 1485 went to UP Diliman, from the University of Philippines Diliman.
