On Saturday (June 27) at the Auditorium of the School of Postgraduate Studies of Parahyangan Catholic University, an inaugural and handover ceremony for the Rector of Parahyangan Catholic University (2015-2019) was held. Mangadar Situmorang, Ph.D has been elected as the Rector of UNPAR after the selection process both at the university senate level and foundation level had been completed.
During the same event, the Vice Rectors who will aid and serve alongside the Rector in his day-to-day responsibilities as the Rector of UNPAR were also inaugurated. Unlike the previous period (when) there were only three Vice Rectors), the current Rector appointed four people as his Vice Rectors. Those who were appointed as Vice Rectors are: Paulus Cahyono Tjiang, Ph.D (as Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, Dr. Orpha Jane (as Vice Rector of Financial Affairs), Dr. Paulus Sukapto (as Vice Rector of Human Capital and Student Affairs), and Dr. Budi Husodo Bisowarno (as Vice Rector of Research, Community Service and Cooperation Affairs).
Before elected as a Rector, Mangadar Situmorang, Ph.D. served as the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences as well as a lecturer in the International Relations Study Program. His ideal is to transform the current Good UNPAR into the Great UNPAR.
The Hall of the School of Postgraduate Studies of Parahyangan Catholic University was filled by invited guests not only from within Parahyangan Catholic University, but also local officials of the area around campus, government officials, military, police, co-operation partners, as well as partner schools and universities.
Before the Inauguration and handover ceremony, a Thanksgiving Mass was conducted at St. Peter’s Cathedral presided by Mgr. Antonius Subianto B., OSC (the Bishop of the Bandung Diocese/Bishopric), Mgr. Martinus D. Situmorang, OFMCap. (the Bishop of the Padang Diocese/Bishopric) and Father Basilius Hendra Kimawan, OSC (the General Secretary of UNPAR Foundation), in his Homily, Mgr. Antonius reminded the leaders of UNPAR to maintain UNPAR’s basic values and spirituality. It is also hoped that he leaders will hold on to the humility and hospitality principles during their tenure as leaders of Parahyangan Catholic University.
