The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Handover ceremony: to make the imagined FISIP come true

In exactly two weeks since the inauguration of Mangadar Situmorang, Ph.D as the Rector of Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR), the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) held a handover ceremony from the previous dean to the newly appointed one. Dr. Pius Sugeng Prasetyo, M.Si. was elected as the new dean to replace Mangadar Situmorang, Ph.D who becomes the Rector of Parahyangan Catholic University. The handover ceremony was held on Thursday, July 14, 2015 at the FISIP’s meeeting room at Parahyangan Catholic University and attended by foundation members, Rectorate staffs, and other faculty deans as well as heads of bureaus, units and centers.

Dr. Pius Sugeng Prasetyo, M.Si. previously served as Vice Rector I and doubled as Vice Rector III of Parahyangan Catholic University. In his opening remarks Dr. Pius Sugeng Prasetyo hoped that FISIP will continue to enhance its quality in various aspects. In his opinion, the imagined FISIP UNPAR by its community has to be safeguarded and made into reality by collaborating in each respective role. Each member of the FISIP UNPAR scientific community has his/her own positions and roles to determine the position of FISIP and UNPAR. Tension that arises from conflict is not a big deal for him, as long as UNPAR’s FISIP scientific community does not lose sight of its main orientation toward a better FISIP UNPAR.

The Rector of Parahyangan Catholic University who was also the former dean of FISIP attended the event and gave a speech. In his speech, the Rector, Mangadar Situmorang, Ph.D. specifically expressed his gratitude to the people who had aided him during his period as dean. The atmosphere of friendliness is shown by the individual mentioning of the names of senate members, Vice Deans, Heads of Study Programs, Secretaries of Study Programs, heads of laboratories, heads of research units, head adminstration staf, administration staffs, even auxilary staffs who had aided him. He specifically appreciated the large enthusiasm shown by the FISIP UNPAR scientific community to the recent dean election. He hoped that the entire FISIP UNPAR scientific community will give the same warm welcome to the new dean as was extended to him in the past.

Ir. Irwan Supriadi who represented the UNPAR foundation hoped that Dr. Pius Sugeng Prasetyo, M.Si. will adopt the good things inherited from the previous dean, improve the less then a good and eradicate the bad. He also hoped that the entire UNPAR scientific community echo the spirit of UNPAR which is reflected in the vision “Bakuning Hyang Mrih Guna Santyaya Bhakti” in this dynamically growing world. He also hoped for self-quality improvements especially for lecturers. Is hoped that FISIP UNPAR will be able to produce a large number of professors as a means of improving the quality of education. To him, lecturers are the heart of university, if it collapse then the faculty, even the university may also follow suit.
