The Office of International Affairs and Cooperation (KIK) Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar) held a farewell ceremony for students involved in the Australian Consortium In-Country Indonesia Studies (ACICIS) program at Arion Swiss-Belhotel, Bandung on Friday (26/5).
ACICIS is a program aimed at students from Australia to study at Unpar through the International Relations Program or West Java Field Study . The program is funded by the Australian government through the New Colombo Plan.
The ceremony commenced with a speech from the Head of Cooperation Section KIK Ratih Indraswari S.IP., MA and representatives from the apprenticeship agencies. The Ceremony that night was attended by eleven ACICIS students, representatives of apprenticeship agencies, as well as some KIK staff. Although the ACICIS program in Unpar has been completed, five of the eleven students will be applying for the one month internship program.
One of ACICIS’s students, Rebecca said, ” It has been amazing studying in Unpar and Bandung has become a home. Hopefully, we have a chance to come back to Indonesia some time in the future, especially in Bandung”.
Another student, Narelle said ” I will not go back yet to Australia until July because I am going to do an internship in the Akatiga Foundation. So, I can still see you (International Office’s staff and Unpar students) and hang out. Studying in Unpar was mesmerizing and also living in Bandung. I love it here , “she said. Several apprenticeship agencies were present at the event that night. Five of the eleven students will extend their stay for the apprenticeship. One student at Akatiga Foundation Bandung, another student, Horace, at the Australian Consulate General in Makassar, a student, Abigail, at the Australian Consulate General in Bali and two students, Justina and Janelle, at Resilience Development Initiative (RDI) Bandung, for the duration of the Short semester at Unpar.
