Union and micro, small, and medium enterprises (KUMKM) has an important role in providing the source of economic life from the biggest part of society. In the PLUT-KUMKM Grand Design (Kemenkop UKM, 2013), the role and contribution of KUMKM in Indonesia’s economy should always be improved and strengthened. Efforts on improving the ability of KUMKM have been done through programs and activities both related to financial and non-financial support. Those activities in general include the patterns of KUMKM empowerment which described in the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs of the Republic of Indonesia 2010-2014.
In that order, Diploma Program of UNPAR Faculty of Economy which the “Creative Entrepreneurship” concentration wans to participate in the alleviation of the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs of the Republic of Indonesia, particularly in terms of product development and marketing as well improving the competitiveness of HR Cooperatives and SMEs. Diploma Program of UNPAR Faculty of Economics held Seminar and Workshop on 27-28 November 2014 with the theme of “From Good to Great: SME Development Strategy in West Java Based on Local Potential and Creativity”. With this theme, UNPAR Diploma Program of Faculty of Economics facilitate the dissemination of knowledge about how far the Department of Cooperatives and SMEs of West Java had conduct business, entrepreneurship programs being made, as well as one-day training for the perpetrators of small-medium scale enterprises in West Java which the materials covers ways to develop products and marketing, fix the financial records, as well as make changes to the design of the product or innovative and creative packaging.
Participant’s interest towards this event is exceptional. It shows by more or less 300 participants that attend on the first day and 130 participants on the second day. Speakers on this event, among others are: Head of Union and SMEs in West Java, Dr. Anton Gustoni, M.Si; Head of West Java Trading, Ferry Sofwan Arief; BRI Branch Leader Bandung, Pardiman, SE., MM; UNPAR lecturers that master the field of finance-marketing-business innovation, and practitioners in the field of product design as well as fashion-culinary entrepreneurs such as Kevin “Master Chef” (cake and bread), Aditya “Moutuon” (designer of bag fashion products), and Hedi (Four Speed).
It is hoped that such event could be held sustainably, and can create closer cooperation between UNPAR with local governments.
