Industrial Engineering Factory Study 2015

For the purpose of improving students’ knowledge and insight, the Industrial Engineering Study Program conducted a factory Study event. It is hoped that through this event, students will be able to gain actual experience in the field related to the theories/science they acquired in classes.

The event was held on June 7-12, 2015 at several factories located in Central and East Java. The factories are: PT. Sido Muncul in Semarang, PT. Sido Muncul Pupuk Nusantara, PT. Coca Cola Amatil Indonesia in Semarang, PT. Djarum in Kudus, PT. Polytron in Kudus, PT. Dua Kelinci in Kudus and PT. Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia in Mojokerto.

A lot of experience was gained by the students from this event such as: Production Process covering production steps and lines in the afore-mentioned factories, equipments and resources utilized, waste management and so on.

In the visit to PT. Polytron, Students were granted permission to witness the actual production process, performed both in fully automated form and worker-intensive form. Meanwhile at PT. Sido Muncul, students gained insights into the important role of the Research and Development laboratory that is responsible for maintaining product quality, and for innovating new varieties of new products with sale potential in the market, like kopi jahe/ginger coffee, Susu Jahe/ginger milk and other products.

One unique thing was discovered by the participants of the factory study at PT. Coca Cola Amatil Indonesia. The company created employee outfit made from the plastic bottles of Coca Cola. It is one of the actual acts of the “Go Green” movement at PT. Coca Cola.
