Diversity is the most valuable treasure owned by the Indonesian Nation. Therefore, it is important for us to maintain that diversity. One way to maintain diversity is to tighten the bonds because with the establishment of friendship will grow a sense of mutual understanding that leads to the creation of harmony in society.
‘Harmony in Diversity as the Real Manifestation of Human Beings’ became the theme raised in the Halal Bihalal event of Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar). The event was held on Thursday (28/6) in the Hall of Building 9, Faculty of Economics, Unpar. The event was attended by Professor Uman Suherman as the Coordinator of Kopertis Region IV-West Java and Banten, Father Hendra Kimawan OSC. representing the board of the Unpar Foundation, Head of university/ bureau/unit/Institute of Unpar, Head of government institutions (both civil and military) around Unpar’s Campus, Ciumbuleuit and surrounding community, full of staffs and academics of Unpar.
Creating a community of diversity
Opening the event, Unpar’s Vice Rector for Human Capital Development, Dr. Paulus Sukapto congratulates Eid al-Fitr to the invitees, while re-explaining Unpar’s vision to create a humane society, full of love, and to uphold diversity. “Unpar is in the spirit of togetherness in diversity, in harmony in diversity, in seeking heo truth and bring about the common good,” he said. Unpar’s identity, he added, is in line with the noble values of the Parahyangan community aimed at the progress of all members of society.
The spiritual sermon presented by Professor Uman Suherman highlighted the importance of maintaining kinship among fellow human beings. “We are destined by God to be human beings who come from the same source, but in colors, different capacities,” he explained. Gathering becomes very important in maintaining the kinship of all human beings regardless of individual or communal differences. The knowledgeable man also constantly improves himself and learns to be a humble man, able to appreciate and respect other beings. Professor Suherman also appreciated Unpar’s efforts to build harmony with the surrounding community, for example for other universities to grow with the community
A gathering event
To jazz up the atmosphere of Halal Bihalal, the committee held exciting games which were followed by the participants enthusiastically. Games such as composing a sentence, ketupat (cooked rice in plant leave container) serving, ketupat platting, an eating contest, and the contest to make ketupat. Invited guests also had the opportunity to win a variety of attractive door prizes and Silaturahmi (maintain the bonds of friendship)directly with the leadership of Unpar, which ended with a gathering session for all invited guests.
