The Parahyangan Catholic University’s leadership baton was passed to Mangadar Situmorang. Ph.D. from Prof. Robertus Wahyudi Triweko, Ph.D. in early July 2015. A new spirit is being introduced to respond to new changes and new challenges. Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) is destined to be great. Not only good like now.
In line with the mission of its founding fathers, UNPAR has to be involved in the process of educating the young people of Indonesia. A community that will develop local potential, improve human dignity and maintain the integrity of the world of creation.
UNPAR has become the university of choice for many secondary school graduates, from West Java or even from allover Indonesia. More than 50 percent of its students come from all over Indonesia, out of greater Bandung. The number of overseas students has been increasing annually, in short-term programs, semester-based exchange programs or in terms of regular students. It means that there are a lot of religious differences, cultural and ethnic varieties as well as socio-economical backgrounds. There are many organizations for student activities starting from the arts unit, sports units (including martial arts) and special organizations like the Parahyangan English Debating Society, the Volunteers Corp/Korps Tenaga Sukarela, and Parahyangan Programmers’ Club. In particular there are student organizations that have international reputation like the Student Choir/Paduan Suara Mahasiswa, The Mountaineering Club/Mahitala, and the Traditional Arts Club/Lingkung Seni Tradisional (Listra). Living in diversity has become the spiritual guideline that is continually maintained and developed within UNPAR.
The availability of various programs and levels of education has made it easier for prospective students to choose the one which is relevant to their academic potential, interest and talent, and society’s demand for a study program at UNPAR. The programs include: diploma programs; the bachelor of Economics, programs including Law, Socio-political,Philosophy, Architecture, and Engineering; as well as doctoral programs in Economics, Law, Architecture and Civil Engineering.
